Take time to think about what you do and don’t like about your job. What ways can you improve the things you don’t like? Can you increase the things you like and focus on those? Talk to your manager about taking on more responsibility. That can feel counterintuitive if you already don’t like your job, but it can actually work.

And if your current job doesn’t give you an option for upward mobility, start making a plan to find something new.

Look for Your Next Job

Of course, there may be circumstances you can’t change in your current position. If that’s the case, you need to be proactive about taking the next steps. Start to update your resume and gather references. Talk to your network about finding another job.
