When speaking with someone at a networking event, ask them questions and listen intently to their responses. Coming across as authentic is crucial when building a trusting relationship in the business world. When speaking with others, answer questions honestly and give them a glimpse of who you are. Your genuine responses will be received by the other person and they will feel comfortable speaking with you further.

Once you build an initial relationship, send them helpful tips and update them on things they might be interested in.
